System calibration & validation for provers and master meters

All the flow laboratories offering calibration and re-calibration facilities for the flowmeters used on site obviously must show that the systems they use are performing properly, and have also to show that the facility has itself been subjected to a regular calibration check. The modern integrated meter diagnostics and centralised health monitoring systems have simplified the performance monitoring of the metering systems significantly.

Regular third party confirmation of the overall performance is still essential, and this can be carried out by experienced KROHNE engineers, involving reviewing the diagnostics and checking the calibration of the instrumentation. The master meters can be taken to a KROHNE or a third party accredited calibration facility, depending on the geographical location of the site.

Actual on-site checking of static provers can be verified and calibration confirmed using water draw techniques, or by use of transportable master meter systems provided by KROHNE. Such testing can be witnessed by any relevant legislative authority, and uncertainty calculations can be presented and agreed with all the parties involved.
